The Cooking Center

"The Cooking Center"
Designed by Michael Love of Interior Options
For the 2003 Hampton Designer Showhouse

" I could have done what people expected...what fun would that be", teases Michael Love.

In today's world where home design has become mainstream and plentiful, Ms. Love serves up an offbeat visual treat to a very savvy public. This strikingly modern 'kitchen' has been designed with Ms. Love's customary boldness. The adjoining spaces satisfying dining and pantry needs, The Cooking Center is just that. Having been recognized by the National Kitchen and Bath Association, Ms. Love invites you to preview her cooking space - done to perfection with the easy lifestyle gourmet in mind.

Michael Love's selection of vivid red and yellow Corian countertops in a geometrically shaped Mondrian-inspired central island is immediately eye-catching. Country charm is infused with the farmer's style sink against the backdrop of checkerboard floor and backsplash. Understated, clean-lined Brookhaven cabinets, a division of Wood-Mode, elegantly offset the room's unconventionality as is apparent in the industrial lighting overhead. Juxtaposing with a touch of whimsy, Ms. Love utilizes a kitschy Hunter Douglas Window Fashions red Painted Daisy fabric over the windows with white solar sheers beneath. High-end appliances; a Sub Zero refrigerator, Wolf range and Asko dishwasher bring sleek functionality to the space. Finished with fanciful touches, Ms. Love adorns with bright and cheery accessories.

Accepting the challenge of designing this high traffic space complete with seven doorways, three windows, and an unsightly gas pipe, plus the stipulation that the kitchen be functional when finished, Michael Love proudly presents The Cooking Center for the 2003 Hampton Designer Showhouse.
